Tuna in the Maldives. In the beginning of this year, I had the opportunity to visit two fishing operations in two different atolls or islands, a landing operation and a processing facility in the beautiful and exotic country of the Maldives. My duties were to assess the traceability of two tuna species from the landing across the processing until the shipment of the final product and cross check with the fishing areas / origin of the fish. Several days took me there, It was really interesting the track back and forward and challenged the chain of custody implemented years ago. In addition, I visited an artisanal tuna factory of Katsuobushi, tuna jerky and loin- chunks that are snacks for the locals.
